Bunk Bed Ladder. Me and my friend made this ladder when we couldn't find one to suit the high level bed that was built into my old studio flat. Plus wooden ladders are really expensive! While it won't win any prizes for asthetics, it is very sturdy and can support the weight of a 16 stone person climbing up and down it.
It's about 6 1/2 feet high and has rubber doorstops screwed to the bottom to prevent it slipping on a wooden floor. I staple-gunned bits of bathroom mat to the steps to make it more comfortable to climb with bare feet.
Whilst I am happy to use this ladder and am satisfied that it does its job, you would be accepting responsibility for whatever you choose to do with it if you buy a homemade ladder from someone off gumtree. Basically don't expect it to have passed any safety standard tests because we literally just screwed bits of wood together and hoped for the best. Seemed to work out ok for us though.
